The first batch of the 5-Day NAKSHA Training Programme, successfully organized by the Centre of Excellence, BN Yugandhar Centre for Rural Studies (BNYCRS), LBSNAA, Mussoorie, under the guidance of the Department of Land Resources (DoLR), Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, which was held from 2nd to 6th June 2025 at Indira Bhawan, under the leadership of Dr. Bagadi Gautham, IAS (Professor of Public Administration & Centre Director of CoE, BNYCRS, LBSNAA). The training aimed to strengthen institutional capacities in land administration by equipping participants from Urban Local Bodies across the six states (Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal) where the NAKSHA pilot programme is being implemented, with practical skills in geospatial technologies, modern surveying methods, urban land management systems and legal frameworks. Key sessions includes hands-on training with GNSS Rovers, ETS, GIS software, legal discussions on conflict resolution and a field visit to the Survey of India, Dehradun.
The programme featured resource persons from National Institute for Geo-Informatics Science & Technology - Survey of India, M.P. State Electronics Development Corporation Ltd, Dr. N. Prabhakara Reddy, IAS (Addl. CCLA cum Secretary, Government of Andhra Pradesh), Shri Soumyakanta Soumyadarshi OAS (Asst.Director, Revenue Officers Training Institute, Odisha), etc., ensuring a rich blend of theoretical learning and practical exposure. Participants appreciated the comprehensive structure of the course and recommended inclusion of more state-specific content and additional hands-on sessions in future editions. The NAKSHA Training Programme continues to play a vital role in enhancing the capacity of land administration professionals, contributing to transparent, accurate and efficient urban land governance across all the States under CoE, BNYCRS, LBSNAA, Mussoorie.
