National
Centre of Gender and Child Training Planning and Research was established as an
autonomous body in 1998 to mainstream gender in policy and to establish gender
as a priority in all government programs to ensure the equitable development of
men and women. Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration being the
nodal agency for imparting administrative training has joined hands with NCGTPR
to deliver gender training for understanding the conceptual and analytical
gender relations framework. Training is organised for the Officer Trainees of
the Foundation Course as also in Phase-I &Phase-II. Training is imparted to
the mid-career course participants of the IAS and officers promoted to the IAS
from the state civil services attending in-service induction programmes. The
Centre not only conducts training and workshops on various issues but is also
developing gender training modules and running courses for other institutions
and clients like DOWCD, UNDP, UNICEF, different State Governments, NACEN, IGNFPA,
UNFPA, NCW etc. It plays a conscious advocacy role by periodically conducting
panel discussions, Essay competitions for the Officer Trainees and awarding the
prizes. Topics include sensitive issues like violence against women, women's
health, sexual harassment at workplace, economic development activities,
participation in the political arena etc.
