Collection and Resources

The Gandhi Smriti Library presently houses a rich and diverse collection of approximately 1.8 lakh documents, comprising 1,72,344 books, 9,497 bound volumes of journals, 64 Braille books, and 8,496 CDs/DVDs that include lecture recordings, documentaries, and films. In addition, the library has about 4,178 digitized rare and old books, which are accessible through its Online Catalogue.

The Library provides access to a rich collection of print and digital resources. It subscribes to 30 newspapers (national, regional, and international editions), 64 magazines, and 66 Indian and international scholarly journals published by leading publishers.

To strengthen digital access, the Library subscribes to online databases and a wide range of e-journals. In addition, the Academy has access to the One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) initiative, providing seamless access to scholarly journals.

To ensure uninterrupted access beyond the campus, LBSNAA alumni can remotely access the Library's subscribed e-resources through the MyLOFT platform, enabling learning and research anytime, anywhere.

  • Gandhiana Section: A rich collection of books by and about Mahatma Gandhi, covering his life, philosophy, writings, and contribution to India's freedom movement. 
  • Gyanlok Section: A unique collection of rare historical, literary, and reference books donated by Mr. P. K. Jain, offering valuable resources for research and learning. 
  • Making of the Nation Section: Features books written by civil service officers and works on India’s administrative and developmental evolution. 
  • Hon'ble Prime Minister's Collection: A curated collection of books authored by or on the lives, leadership, and vision of India's Prime Ministers. 
  • Hon'ble President's Collection: Includes books by and about the Presidents of India, highlighting their contributions to the nation and public life. 
  • Great Leaders Collection: A collection of biographies, speeches, and writings of eminent national leaders who have shaped India’s history. 
  • Award-Winning Literature & Book Galleries: Showcases Jnanpith and Sahitya Akademi Award-winning books, the works of Rabindranath Tagore, and writings by Bharat Ratna awardees. 
  • State Section: A comprehensive collection of books, reports, gazetteers, and reference materials on all Indian States and Union Territories. 
  • Audio-Visual Section: Provides access to lecture recordings, documentaries, educational films, photographs, and other multimedia resources from various Academy training programmes. 
  • Fiction Section: Offers a wide selection of classic and contemporary novels, short stories, and literary works in English and other languages for leisure reading. 
  • Hindi Section: A dedicated collection of Hindi books covering literature, history, governance, social sciences, biographies, and general reading. 
  • Children's Section: A vibrant collection of storybooks, illustrated books, educational resources, and activity-based reading materials designed to inspire young readers.
